as one that is intentionally honoring of all involved,
and results in an elevation of the human spirit.

The poem “Friendship” arrived a lifetime ago printed on a greeting card, and the simple beauty of it has stayed with me over these very many years. Yes, it is about friendship — true friendship. The poem also describes a delicious conversation, which is sometimes filled with laughter, sometimes filled with tears, and sometimes filled with silence — but it is always something beautiful that you want to have again and again.
A delicious conversation is defined as one that is intentionally honoring of all involved, and results in an elevation of the human spirit. The book is divided into three sections: Personal Conversations, Conversations at Work, and Conversations that Change the World. Personal Conversations present foundational awareness and how to transcend conversations into “deliciousness.” Conversations at Work covers six areas that fall within my work with individuals and teams in organizations. Each is followed by a “Seeking Deliciousness” section that suggests ways readers can apply what they have read. The final section contains examples of world-changing conversations.
Concepts and examples are drawn from my personal and work experiences, and supported by a selection of outside content to validate, deepen and enhance. Throughout the book, readers are given the opportunity to practice having random conversations, which serve as small, safe steps to build comfort – and, hopefully, joy.
Friendship
Oh, the comfort—
the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person—
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out,
just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.
— Dinah Maria Mulock Craik (1826-1887)
